Dice and dice games date back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is only about 100 years old. Modern craps formed from the old Anglo game referred to as Hazard. No one knows for certain the origin of the game, but Hazard is said to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard during a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.
Early French colonists imported the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the English, the French moved south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns.
